Cecilia

IN MEMORY

Cecilia "Ceci" Amelia Gonzalez

We hope to honor the memory of all of our angels in honoring the life of Ceci at our Kids Walk.

Cecilia Amelia Gonzalez, also known as “Ceci,” was born on September 06, 2013.

Our daughter was diagnosed on May 17, 2016 with cancer at the tender age of 2 years, 8 months and 11 days.  On May 17, 2016; I heard the words NO PARENT SHOULD HEAR... “the blood results came back abnormal. This means, YOUR CHILD HAS CANCER.”

My Ceci was seen by the urgent care Doctors four times because of joint pain, bloated stomach, fevers for three weeks,  and the last visit for bruises all over her little body. It was on our fourth visit that the urgent care Doctor did blood work on Ceci and it was then that our entire life changed. I will never forget that Tuesday night... I embraced my daughter looked at her and told her with a knot in my throat; “I love you so much! Together we will fight baby girl. You are not alone!”

On May 20, 2016 we were told by the Pediatric Oncologist that Ceci was fighting against Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia Pre B cell high risk.  We were all fighting Leukemia.  That is when #TeamCeci was formed and united to fight together against childhood cancer.

My daughter courageously fought. When we were told that the chemotherapy was going to have her restless, Ceci was running, playing, dancing and having a ball with her siblings!  After 8 months into chemotherapy treatments;  Ceci was cancer free but had to continue her chemotherapy.  Her end date to the chemotherapy treatments was scheduled for September 2018.  Ceci began her maintenance phase treatments on January 2017 and she was doing so great!

Ceci had many health complications from July 15, 2017 and on.  She went into heart distress due to her respiratory distress, 3 different viruses, 3 pneumonias, and went through 10 intubations/extubations, and she was hospitalized for 96 days.  Ceci went home on October 18, 2017 through November 22, 2017 with a tracheotomy and a gastrostomy.  During that month we were happy and looking forward to a speedy recovery.

On November 22, 2017 Ceci was admitted to the hospital, where she later went into septic shock with complete organ failure.  Ceci went into a coma and we never got to say our goodbyes which broke our hearts...

Before Ceci passed she went under a heart arrest within seconds.  My heart was shattered into million pieces! On December 05, 2017 Ceci took her first breath in heaven at 4:48pm at the tender age of 4 years, 2 months and 29 days.  Ceci was surrounded by the love of her siblings, grandparents and us (mommy & daddy).

Later, we learned that Ceci was cancer free and it wasn’t cancer that took her life.  We learned that the side effects of the chemotherapy was the cause of our precious daughter’s death.

As cruel and difficult as her journey was, Ceci faced her challenges, fears and the world with love and with her big dimpled smile!  Ceci had a KIND HEART, FIERCE MIND, & a BRAVE SOUL!  Ceci touched and continues to touch many hearts.  Ceci was courageous, she fought until the day she took her last breath here on earth.  Ceci was a beautiful, silly, energetic, carefree, kind and loving little girl with an infectious dimpled smile!  Her favorite color was purple and she loved dressing up and wearing her princess shoes.  She enjoyed tea parties with her siblings and loved to wear her hair bands (especially if they had Minnie ears or flowers), loved her caps and fancy hats, lip gloss with flavor and nail polish.  Her favorite fruit were strawberries. And let’s not forget Ceci loving her Minnie Mouse!

Ceci left behind four siblings, mommy and daddy and we are currently fighting with our broken hearts to live the moment one day at a time without our little lady Angel Ceci.

Today, Because of Ceci together we fight against childhood cancer.  Because of Ceci together we fight for our courageous Golden children and their Gold families! Because of Ceci we continue her legacy with love and with a smile.  Ceci conquered the world with her beautiful dimpled smile!  And that is how we wish for everyone to remember our courageous little lady Angel Ceci, with a smile!

Sending warm hugs,
Always #TeamCeci
