Meet the Team

Childhood Cancer Foundation maintains a full-time office with professional staff available for family support. We are dedicated to raising awareness of this life-threatening disease as we shine a light of hope for all families.

Stephanie Avila

Executive Director

Stephanie brings over 15 years of dedicated service to the Childhood Cancer Foundation of Southern California, having joined the organization in October 2007. Throughout her tenure, she has played a vital role in coordinating and developing programs that directly support children battling cancer and their families.

Her connection to the mission is deeply personal. As the sibling of a childhood cancer patient who was registered with the organization, Stephanie has experienced firsthand the impact of these services. This unique perspective allows her to lead with both compassion and understanding.

CCFSoCal prides itself on being a highly personal organization, and Stephanie’s lived experience enables her to provide meaningful emotional and social support to families. Her leadership is rooted in empathy, authenticity, and a strong commitment to building genuine connections within the community.

Angelica Tapia

Program Director

Angelica began her journey with the Childhood Cancer Foundation of Southern California as a volunteer in 2016 and joined the staff in February 2017. Since then, she has become an integral part of the organization, contributing to the growth and impact of its programs.

Her connection to the mission is deeply personal. Through her niece’s experience as both a patient and now a survivor, Angelica has witnessed firsthand the meaningful difference CCFSoCal makes in the lives of families facing childhood cancer.

Angelica has played a key role in developing and strengthening community partnerships, helping to expand resources and opportunities for the families the organization serves. Her passion, dedication, and personal connection to the cause continue to drive her commitment to supporting and uplifting the CCFSoCal community.

Alysa Curtis

Office Assistant

Alysa started her journey with Childhood Cancer Foundation as an avid volunteer of the program since 2019. She donated her time, resources and love to help the program continue to serve families like her own. Her niece was a patient and now survivor of the CCF program. We are grateful to have her on the team to help make all of our amazing programs possible.

Board of Directors

The Board of Directors are individuals from the community who feel a compelling need to help those who have been impacted by childhood cancer. All members volunteer their time, talent and leadership to the program.
